Next Academy STEAM Program

Next Academy Inc. is excited to introduce a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program, aimed at providing non-athlete students with hands-on experience in engineering. In collaboration with Kiwi Co, we will offer a series of workshops designed to spark curiosity and creativity in young minds. Each participant will receive a Kiwi Co engineering box, containing all the materials needed to complete a project that they can take home. These workshops will be facilitated by an experienced educator who will guide students through the engineering process, ensuring they grasp fundamental concepts while enjoying the experience.

What is STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. This interdisciplinary approach encourages students to explore and connect these fields, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. By integrating arts into the traditional STEM curriculum, STEAM helps students develop a more well-rounded understanding of how these disciplines work together in the real world.

  • Duration and Format: The program will be spread over two to three weekends, with workshops held on Saturdays or Sundays. Each session will last 2-3 hours.

  • Participant Cap: To ensure a quality experience, the program will be limited to 20 participants for this initial run.

  • Locations: Potential meeting spaces include Maven Space or the 16 Tech Innovation Center, both of which provide a conducive environment for learning and innovation.

  • Cost: The program fee is $25 per participant, covering all materials and the cost of the Kiwi Co engineering box.

  • Interactive Social Element: Beyond the workshops, we will offer an online interactive platform where students can continue to engage with their peers and educators, further exploring the concepts learned during the sessions.

This program offers Wayne Township students a unique opportunity to delve into the world of engineering, broadening their horizons beyond traditional academic subjects. It encourages them to think critically, work collaboratively, and develop skills that are essential in today’s technology-driven world.
